In the capital of Austria, Franz Joseph Muller discovered a type of mineral known locally as "strange gold" in a mine in Romania. Sixteen years later, German mineralogist M. H. Klaproth dissolved the mineral in aqua regia, used an excess of alkali to partially precipitate the solution, removed gold and iron, and discovered the new element in the precipitate, which he named tellurium, with the element symbol Te. In the 1960s, the United States developed a highly conductive and easy-to-machine copper alloy material to meet its industrial development needs, filling the gap in precision processing materials for copper alloys, known as C14500 tellurium copper alloy.

Composition Range (%) | ≥99.9 | 0.20-0.35 | <0.001 | <0.008 | <0.01 | <0.005 | <0.002 | <0.01 |
Because C14500 tellurium copper alloy has good machinability and excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance, and good hot and cold processing properties, it is widely used in precision electronic and electrical components that require high conductivity, high electrical and thermal conductivity, and corrosion resistance, advanced electromechanical parts, forgings and thread-cutting parts, plumbing fittings, electrical contact parts, plasma and laser cutting accessories, automobile starters and switch components, and more.
